Ebola: deadly disease

Ebola is a type of fever that has occurred mostly in the parts of Africa. This deadly viral function is similar to dengue fever, Marburg fever and Lassa fever. There are four types of Ebola, named after their country of origin. The diseases include Ebola Zaire, Ebola Cote d'Ivoire, and Ebola Sudan are all known to affect people. Ebola Reston does not appear to cause illness in humans. There is no cure for this disease, according to study. The disease can range from mild to severe infections. However, severe cases may need intensive supportive care.

It is believe that the disease may be transferred through virus- infected blood, organs, bodily fluids, secretions, airborne particles, but so far there are no proven cases of this typical fever. But the symptoms include a fever, muscle aches, head aches, sore throat and debilitating weakness. This is followed by the symptoms may include diarrhea, rash, breathing problems, kidney problems and vomiting, as well as both internal and external bleeding. Usually, the symptoms begin 2 to 21 days after infection.

Ebola is referred as a hemorrhagic fever, and it is one of the most fatal viruses to affect monkeys and apes. There is no specific treatment or vaccine that exists for Ebola haemorrhagic fever. The disease is spread mainly by having a close person-to-person contact with severely ill patients or by handling ill or dead apes. This deadly fever is most often spread to hospital-care workers and family members who care for an ill person infected with Ebola viral fever.

The hemorrhagic fever is also spread to the people by transmission of the virus to the re-use of hypodermic needles in the treatment of patients. Study also says that Ebola virus can spread from one person to another through sexual contact even after recovery. People, who travel to the areas where Ebola hemorrhagic fever has occurred, are also at the highest risk of this deadly disease.

People with Ebola require specialized laboratory tests on blood specimens in the part of diagnosis. Handling blood from persons infected with Ebola virus is an extreme biohazard and can easily spread to the hospital care-workers or family members that can be done only in specially equipped laboratories for the welfare of the people. But the disease can be well prevented by sticking away with the areas where Ebola outbreaks are occurring. People can also get information regarding Ebola, when they consult with a health care provider.
